Job Description
This role plays a vital part in fostering communication between deaf or hard-of-hearing (D/HH) students, their peers, educators, and others within the school environment. The ideal candidate will possess fluency in American Sign Language (ASL) and a strong understanding of the educational needs of students with hearing impairments.

This role plays a vital part in fostering communication between deaf or hard-of-hearing (D/HH) students, their peers, educators, and others within the school environment. The ideal candidate will possess fluency in American Sign Language (ASL) and a strong understanding of the educational needs of students with hearing impairments.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support students as outlined in their Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
- Interpret extracurricular activities in accordance with school policies and supervisor instructions.
- Deliver interpretation services for all mainstream classes attended by D/HH students.
- Redirect any questions from regular education staff regarding D/HH students to the appropriate case manager.
- Serve as a liaison between the D/HH Program and mainstream programs, ensuring effective communication and collaboration.
- EIPA score of 3.5 or higher.
- Prior experience in a school setting.
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL).
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of the unique challenges faced by deaf or hard-of-hearing students and be able to communicate effectively with them and their families.
In addition to their knowledge of ASL, the successful candidate will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with students, staff, and parents.
