Job Summary:
This role plays a vital part in fostering communication between deaf or hard-of-hearing students, their peers, educators, and others within the school environment. The ideal candidate will possess fluency in American Sign Language (ASL) and a strong understanding of the educational needs of students with hearing impairments.
Main Responsibilities:
This role plays a vital part in fostering communication between deaf or hard-of-hearing students, their peers, educators, and others within the school environment. The ideal candidate will possess fluency in American Sign Language (ASL) and a strong understanding of the educational needs of students with hearing impairments.
Main Responsibilities:
- Support students as outlined in their Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
- Interpret extracurricular activities in accordance with school policies and supervisor instructions.
- Deliver interpretation services for all mainstream classes attended by D/HH students.
- Redirect any questions from regular education staff regarding D/HH students to the appropriate case manager.
- Serve as a liaison between the D/HH Program and mainstream programs, ensuring effective communication and collaboration.
- EIPA score of 3.5 or higher.
- Prior experience in a school setting.
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL).
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
