You will adapt instructional approaches to align with state and district curricula, utilizing evidence-based strategies to support academic growth. Continuously evaluating student progress, you will modify teaching methods to ensure ongoing development. Collaboration is integral to this role as you engage with general education teachers, support staff, and families to cultivate an inclusive and supportive classroom environment. Maintaining comprehensive records of student achievements and communicating updates with stakeholders will be crucial. You will foster a positive learning atmosphere by guiding student behavior through reinforcement techniques and intervention strategies. Active engagement in IEP meetings, professional development opportunities, and staff collaboration will further enhance your effectiveness and impact.
Requirements
Candidates should have a demonstrated background as a Special Education Teacher or in a similar role, with experience supporting children who have diverse disabilities. A Bachelor’s degree in Special Education is required, with a Master’s degree being a plus. Applicants must either possess or be eligible to apply for an Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with a Special Education (LSB1) endorsement.
