Essential duties include conducting comprehensive evaluations to assess clients’ functional, physical, and sensory-motor abilities and developing personalized treatment plans to address their unique needs and goals. Therapists deliver targeted therapy sessions to improve motor skills, sensory processing, self-care, and daily living activities while collaborating with families, caregivers, educators, and multidisciplinary teams to support client development and progress. Accurate documentation of evaluations, treatment plans, progress notes, and reports is essential to ensure compliance with professional and regulatory standards. Additionally, therapists educate clients and families on practical strategies and adaptive tools to promote independence in various environments. Participation in Individualized Education Program (IEP) meetings is required to contribute to goal-setting and treatment planning. Staying current with advancements and best practices in occupational therapy through ongoing professional development is a critical aspect of the role.
Requirements
The ideal candidate will possess strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills, along with the ability to collaborate effectively within a multidisciplinary team. Experience working with children in a therapeutic setting is highly desirable, as this role involves providing tailored interventions to support their development. A Master’s degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited program is required, along with current state licensure or eligibility for licensure as an Occupational Therapist. Additionally, certification from the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT) is preferred, demonstrating a commitment to excellence in the field.
