We are currently seeking a dedicated Special Education Teacher to join our team and support students in a resource room setting. The ideal candidate will work with students who have a range of learning, emotional, physical, and developmental disabilities.
This role involves creating and implementing individualized education programs (IEPs), collaborating with school staff and families, and using effective teaching strategies to promote students' academic and social growth.
Position Summary:
The Exceptional Needs Instructor will develop and implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) that address each student's unique needs. You'll manage a structured and supportive classroom, fostering a positive learning atmosphere. Regular assessments will help you monitor students’ progress and determine their specific educational needs. Collaboration is key, as you'll work closely with general education teachers, specialists, and families to ensure students receive the best support possible. You'll also adapt curriculum and teaching methods to accommodate a range of learning abilities. Maintaining detailed records of students' progress and IEP goals is essential, as is providing emotional and social support to promote a positive learning experience. Lastly, you will engage in ongoing professional development to stay updated on the latest best practices in special education.
Requirements
Candidates must hold a valid Illinois certification in Special Education and demonstrate the ability to adapt instruction to meet the needs of a diverse group of learners effectively. A bachelor’s degree in Special Education or a related discipline is required, with a master’s degree being highly desirable. Applicants should have a strong understanding of developing, implementing, and ensuring compliance with Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), as well as familiarity with state and federal regulations governing special education.
