The BMS Lead Systems Engineer will be responsible for the platform development of battery management systems (BMS) and related embedded electronics as part of energy system products, purposefully executing all system engineering activities from requirements development to integration and verification. You will ensure that the BMS solutions meet the overall system requirements and that the hardware, software and mechanical interfaces are compatible.
How you will do it:
- Define, guide and partially executes all system engineering activities along the V-cycle in alignment mainly with the system, hardware, and software teams.
- Deriving system requirements for platform BMS solutions based on the overall product system architecture and the overall system requirements.
- Developing BMS architectures and driving the creation of the hardware-software-interface in alignment with the hardware and software teams.
- Aligning hardware and software requirements together with the related engineering domains.
- Developing a system level BMS integration and verification strategy and supports the overall product’s system integration.
- Aligning the maturity of the outcome of the platform system engineering activities with the needs of the application engineering projects.
- Focuses on design to cost, design to manufacture and time to market.
- Contributes to the definition and maintenance of a platform roadmap.
- Defines and advances system engineering processes, guidelines and tools.
Required:
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in an engineering discipline from an accredited institution required.
- Minimum of 10 years’ experience in embedded systems, electronics and software engineering including product launch.
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in the development of automotive battery systems or battery management systems.
- Profound knowledge and experience in functional safety for automotive embedded systems required.
- Knowledge and experience in automotive cybersecurity is a plus.
- Experience in systems engineering according to industry and automotive standards (ISO 26262, ISO 15288; certification is a plus, e.g., INCOSE CSEP)
- Experience and confidence in the use of requirements and system engineering tools (e.g., Jama, Cameo System Modeler).
- Experience in agile development is a plus.
