The Demand Planning Lead will support the transformation of the Clarios demand planning function, utilizing the latest in demand planning processes and tools. How You Will Do It
- Lead definition of new demand planning processes, partnering with cross functional areas to streamline and optimize end to end demand planning processes.
- Implement best practices in demand forecasting and identify and resolve issues related to demand variability, customer inventory, POS changes and process bottlenecks
- Prepare an unbiased 24 months unit forecast for select Retail, Wholesale, and OEM customers, achieving KPIs including forecast accuracy and attainment. Ensuring the integrity of the forecast and timely updating in the demand planning system
- Facilitate reaching a consensus on the unit sales forecast to be utilized for all forms of business planning (Sales, Operations, Components, etc.). This includes leading the monthly Demand Planning meeting for select accounts including volumes, drivers of forecast changes and actions to improve forecast accuracy.
- Evaluation of monthly data loads into demand planning systems.
- This role will be responsible for assuring that master data related to forecasting and forecast entries are up to date and accurate. This includes evaluating and adjusting data for new history loads, new products added, products being phased out, as well as changes concerning territories, customers, and supply points.
- Provide regular reporting and actionable insights on forecast accuracy, variance against the financial plan, changes vs last cycle, Customer POS/Inventory to drive the improvements
- Lead efforts to optimize forecasting methodologies, implement new technologies, or refine processes to adapt to changing business needs and market dynamics.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to foster a mindset of agility and improvement, helping the organization stay ahead of industry trends and customer demands.
- Generation of statistical forecasts – Evaluate the historical accuracy of statistical baseline forecasts and adjust parameters to ensure forecasting models provide the best possible baseline forecasts.
- Execute and evaluate performance measurements and exception reports. Determine forecast adjustments required to improve forecasting to at least target levels. Provide suggestions for additional measurements and reporting that may help improve forecast accuracies. Evaluate and recommend appropriate Forecast Accuracy targets for various levels of and categories of sales.
- Continually improve statistical forecasting models and methodology for both mature and new product launches. Accountable for Forecast Accuracy improvement.
- Confirm/enforce the segmented forecast horizon, focusing on creating a frozen forecast horizon. Establish guidelines for forecast adjustments and horizon ownership. Train the stakeholders in the process as needed.
- Interface with other functions as required ensuring transparency of the Demand Planning process and results (i.e. Sales, Supply Planning, etc.)
What we look for
- Bachelor's degree in related field (Supply Chain Management/Operations/Logistics, Engineering, Computer Science, Business, Math/Statistics, Marketing).
- 8 plus years' experience in a demand planning/forecasting role – valuable to have automotive experience.
- Certification from Institute of Business Forecasting (IBF), APICS or similar credential – preferred
- Prior experience with analyzing, improving and leading forecasting/DP software tools like Logility, , Anaplan, O9, Blue Yonder etc
- Familiarity with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems (e.g., SAP, QAD).
- Proven influencing, negotiating and conflict management skills.
