What are the responsibilities and job description for the Cost Engineer position at Clark Construction Group?
As a member of the Cost Engineering team, you will perform various tasks pertaining to contract review, financial projections, cost planning and analysis, special projects, and process management. This is a position in a fast-paced
department. As such, you will be expected to learn quickly and apply your knowledge across several functional areas including financial planning & analysis, management reporting, process and system improvement and basic project management functional monitoring. As skills and proficiencies are honed, each cost engineer is assigned as the lead for specific tasks. Lead roles are rotated periodically to ensure redundancy of coverage and to continue to challenge the group.
- Responsibilities :
- Review project contract terms in development of budgeting and costing plans and to determine level of profitability.
- Work directly with project teams in development of their Project Plan.
- Development / Maintain / Review of monthly / weekly productivity reports with self perform entities.
- Develop / Review / Discuss with Project Team their staff charts and cost reports helping identify trends and anomalies.
- Develop / Review / Discuss with Project Team their monthly Job Status Report (JSR) and review of their Projected Final Profit.
- Prepare and present the monthly corporate JSR and Key Financial Indicators Report.
- Meet with project teams on site as needed to conduct training, job reviews and general cost engineering support and maintenance. (Some travel may be involved)
- Manage project audits with project teams and outside auditors as needed.
- Coordinate with project teams and McLean departments to identify jobs in closeout with potential for year-end purge.
- Work closely with all of Finance to provide job level information needed for successful completion of their mission and initiatives
- Be a resource to business units across the company. We may not know the answer every time, but we can steer to the one who does.
- Qualifications :
- Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Business Administration, or another business-related field.
- 0-2 years prior work experience
- Highly motivated individual with strong work ethic and organizational skills and the ability to interact effectively with coworkers
- Strong quantitative, analytical, and problem-solving skills
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Careful attention to detail and reliability of output
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word (We will teach SAP, KPI, Power BI, Procore, Kahua, and others as needed)
- Self Starter with the ability to work independently to achieve common objectives
- Highly motivated individual with strong organizational and time management skills
- Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced team environment
- Experience in SAP is a plus

Construction work requires strenuous physical activity.
