Responsibilities:
- Align and position pipes to prepare them for joining.
- Check slopes and alignment for conformance to requirements, using levels or lasers and transits.
- Connect pipe pieces and seal joints, using cement, glue, or mechanical fasteners.
- Cut pipes to required lengths.
- Dig trenches to desired or required depths, by hand or using trenching tools.
- Grade and level trench bases, using tamping machines and hand tools.
- Install and repair sanitary and storm water sewer structures and pipe systems.
- Tap and drill holes into pipes to introduce auxiliary lines or devices.
- Knowledge of working around heavy equipment and rigging
- Knowledgeable in safe and professional practices in pipe testing
Qualifications:
- Proven work experience as a Pipe Layer.
- Detailed knowledge of construction and pipe fitting techniques.
- Knowledge of sewer systems, storm drains, and water mains.
- Experience with machine-operated trenching tools (ramex, jumping jack).
- Experience with pipe cutting saws (Stihl cut off saw)
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints.
- Excellent physical fitness with the ability to lift heavy objects.
- Good communication skills.
- Ability to work outdoors in harsh weather conditions.
