What are the responsibilities and job description for the Guidance Counselor position at Clark County Educational Service Center?
The Clark County Educational Service Center is seeking a dynamic and knowledgeable full-time K-12 Guidance Counselor for placement in a district during the 2024-2025 school year. The school counselor will report to the Principal and collaborate closely with the Assistant Principals, the City Connects Counselors, and teachers.
Job duties include, but are not limited to:
Evaluating students’ abilities and interests through aptitude assessments, interviews, and individual planning
Identifying issues that affect school performance
Helping students understand and overcome social or behavioral problems through classroom guidance lessons and counseling
Counseling individuals and small groups based on student and school needs
Working with students to develop skills, such as organizational and time management abilities and effective study habits
Helping students create a plan to achieve academic and career goals
Collaborating with teachers, administrators, and parents to help students succeed
Assisting students with planning for college or careers after graduation
Maintaining records as required
Assisting administration with the creation of the master schedule
Scheduling students into courses
Assisting students and families with Naviance
Reporting possible cases of neglect or abuse and referring students and parents to resources outside the school for additional support
Other duties as assigned
