DIRECTOR OF FINANCE
JOB PURPOSE AND SUMMARY
Under the direction of and reporting to the Managing Director of Events, this exempt, at-will position exists to provide the financial and administrative support required by the Event Center; and to assist the CEO/Fair Manager in maintaining the fiscal health of the facility that is necessary for successful operation of the facility.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist the CEO/Fair Manager in the development of business and financing arrangements that will meet the needs of the facilities.
- Maintain the fiscal affairs of the facility.
- Plan, acquire, install, operate, and maintain all financial systems.
- Perform Human Resources and Payroll duties.
- With the CEO/Fair Manager, establish and maintain adequate internal control systems.
- Be a part of the FSMG team and work to achieve the success of the organization.
KEY OR TYPICAL TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist the Managing Director of Events in the development of all short- and long-term budgets.
- Prepare all financial reports.
- Coordinate with the County, when necessary, on financial matters.
- Operate and maintain internal accounting system.
- Reconcile bank accounts.
- Resolve accounts receivable and payable issues.
- Complete Journal vouchers for entry into County system.
- Complete monthly and quarterly tax returns/reports.
- Perform all required financial analysis.
- Coordinate with financial institutions.
- Prepare all timekeeping information, process payroll and maintain system.
- Perform human resource functions, including assisting in the hiring of all Fair Temps; maintenance of personnel files; and employee benefit administrator.
- Coordinate and maintain insurance needs as directed by the CEO/Fair Manager.
- Assist the Scholarship Committee Chair in administering the scholarship program.
- Provide administrative support to other staff elements as well as to the CEO, and limited support to the FSMG Board and the Clark County Fair Association.
- Supervise assigned staff.
- Perform other duties as required.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- Will be required to work extended hours during the annual Fair as well as from time to time throughout the year.
Language Skills
- Ability to communicate orally and in writing in English.
- Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, and government regulations.
- Ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals.
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups, clients, customers and the general public.
Reasoning Ability
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
- Ability to interpret an extensive variety of instructions and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
Other Skills, Abilities and Requirements
- Ability to use computer software and hardware.
- Must be available at times other than normal business hours.
