Clark County (Indiana) Government is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Head Mechanic/Supervisor for the Clark County Highway Department.
The person in this position is primarily responsible for the maintenance and repair of Highway Department vehicles and equipment and supervising garage personnel.

The Duties include oversight of garage operations and supervision of personnel, including work assignments and training; preventative maintenance and repairs on vehicles and equipment according to warranties, mileage and usage; documentation of repairs and maintenance; operation of equipment and vehicles to diagnose problems including computer diagnostics; various mechanical trades such as repair and fabrication of parts, welding, brazing, torch cutting and wiring; order and approve purchase of parts, prepare invoices and maintain detailed records of maintenance and repair activities; install and maintain salt boxes; make service and emergency runs as needed; maintain clean and orderly work areas; and operate various power and hand tools.
The Skills and Knowledge include a high school diploma or GED; must be at least age 21; ability to enter data on computer and use Excel; ability to meet all hiring requirements including a drug screen and background check; a current CDL is preferred but a driver's license is required; working knowledge of OSHA and other safety policies and procedures; ability to analyze and diagnose causes of mechanical and electrical malfunction; ability to communicate orally and in writing; ability to physically perform assigned duties including standing/walking for long periods, driving, working in cramped/awkward positions; lift/carry objects weighing at least 50 lbs; pushing/pulling objects, crouching; kneeling, bending reaching, close and far vision, hearing mechanical sounds and handling/grasping objects; ability to work with others and independently.
