What are the responsibilities and job description for the Peer Support Specialist position at Clark County Health Department?
The Clark County Health Department (CCHD) is accepting applications for a full-time Peer Support Specialist. This is a non-merit contract position. The CCHD is seeking a qualified, self-sufficient applicant with a strong work ethic.
Responsibilities:
- Provide Peer Support.
- Provide recovery education to participants for every phase of the recovery journey from initiation, stabilization, and sustained recovery maintenance.
- Provide a model for both people in recovery and staff by demonstrating that recovery is possible.
- Assist individuals to identify their personal interests, goals, strengths and weaknesses regarding recovery.
- Actively identify and support linkages to community resources that support the individual’s goals and interests. Identify barriers (internal and external) to full participation in community resources and develop strategies to overcome those barriers.
- Connect participants to a larger community of care. Educate and assist family members.
- Use local healthcare connections to assist in providing wrap-around support to individuals.
- Provide transportation.
Requirements:
- High School Diploma/GED
- Peer Support Certification
- Valid Driver's License
