What are the responsibilities and job description for the ELECTION OFFICER position at Clark County?

This examination will establish an Open Competitive Eligibility list to fill current and/or future vacancies that may occur within the next six (6) months or may be extended as needed by Human Resources.
Human Resources reserves the right to call only the most qualified applicants to the selection process.
Some positions may be used to fill term Limited-Permanent positions. The selected candidates will be hired for a special project or duties of a limited duration and be required to sign a term of employment letter specifying condition and exact dates of employment. The successful selected candidates will be eligible for benefits during the duration of employment.
Some positions may be Grant Funded. Grant Funded positions are subject to continuation based on availability of grant funds and the employee will be terminated without right of appeal when such funds are no longer available.

Education and Experience: Equivalent to graduation from high school AND six (6) months of full-time technical or general office support experience. Prior lead or supervisory experience over paid or volunteer staff is desirable. Professional level experience and/or education that has provided the skills and knowledge necessary to perform all job functions at this level may be substituted on a year-for-year basis.

Working Conditions: Work overtime or off-shift work on a seasonal basis.
Licensing and Certification: Must possess a valid Nevada Class C Driver's License at time of appointment.
Background Investigation: Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a background investigation. Periodically after employment background investigations may be conducted.

Pre-Employment Drug Testing: Employment is contingent upon the results of a pre-employment drug examination.
- Receives public inquiries in person and over the phone, responds to questions and requests for registration and election related materials.
- Performs a variety of office related procedures, including filing, assembling materials and preparing envelopes for mail-out, sorting mail, word processing and general administrative office support.
- Enters data in voter registration files, verifies and accesses the data in response to inquiries, petitions, and early voting procedures.
- Assists in preparing and configuring voting machines to support election day requirements and in transporting machines as necessary, to voting locations.
- Assists in performing additional tasks, as required to prepare for election days that includes scheduling and training over 4,000 volunteers and preparing supplies to support voters in 330 plus polling locations.
- Contributes to the efficiency and effectiveness of the unit's service to its customers by offering suggestions and directing or participating as an active member of a work team.
- Uses a variety of standard office equipment, including a computer, in the course of the work.
- Drives a County motor vehicle to precincts and training sites or to deliver ballot materials and supplies.
