The Clark County Parks and Recreation Department is seeking qualified candidates to apply for the Shooting Range Specialist position. As a member of our team at the Clark County Shooting Complex, you will provide oversight of the various ranges which includes the scheduling of programs, classes, and safety courses. The ideal candidate will be responsible for maintaining work relationships with patrons and user groups. The candidate will be a part of the Shooting Complex team and report to the Recreation Program Supervisor.
This examination will establish an Open Competitive Eligibility list to fill current and/or future vacancies that may occur within the next six (6) months or may be extended as needed by Human Resources.

Associates Degree and a minimum of one (1) year experience in the management or operation of a gun range or experience in formal firearm management. Experience may be substituted for the education on a year for year basis.
All qualifying education and each experience must be clearly documented in the “Education” and “Work Experience” sections of the application. Licensing and Certification: Must possess a valid Nevada Class C driver's license. Possess or be able to obtain certification in CPR and first aid within 6 months of employment.
Working Conditions: Able to work various hours, including evenings and weekends. May be required to work some holidays. Requires working outdoors with possibility of exposure to extreme weather conditions. May be subjected to frequent and prolonged excessive noise from gunfire.
Background Investigation: Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a background investigation. Periodically after employment background investigations may be conducted.

Essential Duties:
- Provide continuous customer service to the shooting public off and on the firing line.
- Constantly observe active shooters to ensure their safety, and the safety of all of those around them.
- Inspect vital inventory regularly, and re-stock such inventory where needed. (targets, ammunition, ear & eye protection).
- Inspect regularly equipment vital to operation, i.e, trap, skeet, and sporting clays target equipment, voice release systems, target management systems, target frames, range timers and PA equipment.
- Inspect routinely all rental guns and equipment provided by the facility.
- Interact positively with the public and event shooters.
- Schedule and direct part-time and volunteer staff in all aspects of range operations.
- Implement requirements of the Environmental Stewardship Plan as set for the facility.
- Encourage and maintain a strong working relationship between outdoor staff and administrative staff at all times.
Other Duties:
- Contributes to the efficiency and effectiveness of the unit's service to its customers by offering suggestions and directing or participating as an active member of a work team.
- Orders and accounts for the use of program supplies and equipment.
- Uses standard office equipment in the course of the work.
- Drives a personal or County vehicle to reach various sites and attend meetings.
