We currently have an opportunity for a structural engineer to join our Indiana Structures Team based out of our Indianapolis office. This team provides assessment and design services for transportation and drainage structures for INDOT and LPA clients in Indiana.
Primary Responsibilities
- Assists Project Engineers with structural analysis calculations for bridge replacements, rehabilitations, and preventative maintenance projects for INDOT and LPA clients.
- Implements the requirements of INDOT’s design manual and NBIS standards.
- Assists in development of project documents for the full project cycle from initial Alternatives Analysis through the Contract Book stages.
- Helps to develop bid documents/final tracings and special provisions for bridge projects.
- Calculates quantities and estimates for bridge projects in Open Roads and Excel.
- Perform site visits for bridge project meetings and bridge inspections.
- Assist with NBIS inspections in office and in field work which includes form preparation, site photos and data entry.
- Assist in development of engineering drawings using MicroStation.
Position Requirements
- B.S. degree in Structural or Civil Engineering. EIT is desired.
- 1-3 years of experience (FT or Internship) with assessment and/or design of concrete and/or steel structures.
- Experience with the INDOT Design Manual, submittals, permitting and environmental requirements.
- Experience with NBIS bridge inspection is desired.
- Strong collaboration and communication skills with the ability to work as part of a team both in an office setting and remotely.
- Experience with the following CAD and modeling tools; MicroStation, AASHTOWare, Merlin Dash, Consys 2000, Conspan, Staad/Pro, Excel and MathCad.
- Valid driver’s license and the ability to travel to project and client sites as needed.
