We currently have an opportunity for an entry level Civil Engineer to join our Northern IL Transportation Team based out of our Chicago, IL office . The selected candidate will work as part of a team and contribute to the planning and design of transportation projects for a variety of state and local agencies in Illinois.
Primary Responsibilities
- Performs planning and design tasks for a variety of transportation improvement projects under the direction of the Sr. Engineers and Project Managers
- Applies local, state, and federal design guidelines and standards to implement transportation, traffic, and drainage related designs.
- Utilizes design guidelines from IDOT, FHWA, ITE, NACTO, AASHTO and MUTCD to develop multimodal solutions and evaluate alternatives.
- Develops specifications and quantity estimates for transportation or site-civil related projects.
- Develops horizontal / vertical and cross-sectional geometry for roadway and / or drainage projects.
- Creates plans and bid documents for project deliverables using a variety of design and modeling tools including : MicroStation, Open Roads Designer, ArcGIS, HCS, Synchro and Excel.
- Coordinates with public / private utilities to document physical location and analyze potential conflicts.
- Assists with field data collection, field survey and construction inspection / documentation as needed.
- Other duties as assigned.
