What are the responsibilities and job description for the Infection Control/Education/Employee Health Nurse position at Clark Fork Valley Hospital?
SUMMARY
The employee is responsible for overseeing all infection control and prevention activities within the organization. This includes serving as the primary coordinator for community infection prevention and mitigation efforts. Additionally, the employee will manage all aspects of the employee health program and provide education to clinical staff.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Internal Infectious Disease Scope
- Establish and implement infection control orientation programs in collaboration with department managers.
- Develop and enforce policies and procedures related to infection control within the organization.
- Oversee the infection control program, including surveillance, data analysis, report development, and ensuring adherence to policies and procedures.
- Collaborate with the Infection Prevention and Control Committee to guide surveillance activities and annually evaluate the effectiveness of the Infection Prevention and Control Plan.
- Ensure infection prevention and control procedures comply with CMS, county and state regulations, OSHA, APIC, and CDC standards and guidelines.
- Manage CDC NHSN reporting and participate in national collaborative quality improvement projects related to infectious diseases.
Community Infection Prevention and Mitigation Scope
- Coordinate the organization's efforts to prevent and mitigate community infectious diseases.
- Organize community vaccination programs.
- Develop community education initiatives to promote vaccination against relevant communicable diseases (e.g., Flu, COVID-19, Measles).
- Design testing strategies to encourage community participation, tailored to specific disease outbreaks.
- Coordinate with Public Health Authorities and other stakeholders to align efforts.
Employee Health Scope
- Develop and enforce policies and procedures related to employee health within the organization.
- Establish and implement employee health orientation programs in collaboration with department managers.
- Maintain employee health records with the assistance of Human Resources.
- Manage all pre-employment testing and vaccination processes, including annual N95, TB, and Influenza screenings, as well as monitoring potential infectious exposures (e.g., blood), employee illnesses, and disease outbreaks.
Clinical Employee Education Scope
- Collaborate with clinical department managers to develop a comprehensive clinical education plan.
- Organize relevant educational events to assist departments in meeting their education objectives.
- Oversee and coordinate RQI and NRP training programs.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
- Current licensure as an LPN or RN is required
