Clark Hill PLC is seeking an associate attorney with 4 years of experience for its Corporate/Non-Profit Business Unit in the Birmingham, MI or Detroit, MI office. This associate should have prior experience with corporate matters relating to tax-exempt entities and nonprofit organizations. This associate will be responsible for representing clients through the life cycle of a nonprofit entity. Responsibilities include providing board governance advice, legal entity formation analysis and filings, template creation, preparing and filing IRS exemption applications, providing unrelated business taxable income advice, drafting and negotiating contracts, and state- and federal tax-specific research. Experience with the making of charitable gifts and planned giving would be a positive but is not required. This associate will be client-facing and expected to interact well with clients and recognize and be responsive to client needs. Successful candidates must be detail-oriented and should possess a solid work ethic. Strong interpersonal and verbal and written communication skills are required. Strong academic credentials are essential. All candidates must be currently licensed to practice law in the State of Michigan.
The salary range for this position at the time of posting is $150,000 - $190,000 annually, based upon a full-time work schedule. Actual compensation will be influenced by various factors, including but not limited to employee qualifications, relevant experience, skill sets, training, internal equity, and market data. This position is eligible for an annual discretionary bonus. In addition, Clark Hill offers employees the ability to participate in health insurance with optional HSA/FSA, short term disability, long term disability, dental insurance, vision care, life insurance, 401K, vacation, sick time, parking/public transportation allowance, and an employee assistance program.
