ClarkLindsey, East Central Illinois’s award-winning retirement community, seeks the skills of a Barista for ClarkLindsey's new Bistro. The ideal barista will be an individual experienced in preparation of coffee, tea and light meals according to ClarkLindsey's quality expectations, and in compliance with Serv-Safe standards. Constant, consistent customer service, attention to detail and quality standards, excellent listening skills, and the ability to follow process and procedures are all required for this important customer-facing, FULL TIME, position.
Key Responsibilities:
• Prepare and serve coffee, espresso drinks, tea, and other beverages according to standard recipes.
• Process payments accurately using the point-of-sale system.
• Follow proper food storage, labeling, and disposal procedures.
- Restock condiments, beverages, and general supplies while maintaining cleanliness of service area.
- Responsible for ensuring proper presentation, portion control, and maintenance of proper serving temperatures – follows HACCP standard.
- Ensure all food and beverage items are handled according to health and safety regulations maintains orderliness of all equipment, supplies and utensils within work area.
- Assist in tracking inventory and communicating stock needs to management, utilizing approved recipes and following prescribed production.
- Demonstrates a complete understanding of daily menu items, dietary needs, and explains information to customers and residents accurately.
- Ensure that all display foods are merchandised attractively per standards.

Education and Experience Requirements
- Previous barista, café, or food service experience preferred
- Excellent customer service and communication skills.
- Ability to operate espresso machines and other café equipment.
- Friendly, patient, and compassionate, with a desire to serve older adults.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 25 lbs.
- Food handler’s certification required.
- A combination of education, comprehension, mathematics and reasoning ability
Working Conditions
- Works in kitchen
- Moves frequently during working hours.
- Is subject to frequent interruptions.
- Is involved with residents, family members, personnel, visitors, etc. under all conditions/circumstances.
- Is subject to injury from falls, burns, and cuts.
- Must be able to function independently.
- Frequent standing, bending, and reaching.
- May be necessary to assist in the evacuation of residents during emergency situations.
Benefits and Compensation
The pay range for this position is $20.75 - $22.30 per hour, and is based on experience. Bonuses equaling up to 3% of salary annually are available based on performance, generally in the spring and fall each year.
