We are currently seeking a detail-oriented, customer-focused individual to join our service department as a Service Writer.

Position Overview
The Service Writer is a vital role within our service department, responsible for managing customer interactions, creating and cashiering work orders, and assisting with scheduling and selling services. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication and organizational skills, a keen attention to detail, and a positive, professional demeanor. While some familiarity with boating or marine services is preferred, we are willing to provide training to the right individual.

Key Responsibilities

• Communicate with customers in person, over the phone, and through digital channels (email, text, etc.) to understand service needs and provide exceptional customer service
• Create accurate and detailed work orders for service requests
• Cashiering and processing customer payments for services rendered
• Assist the service scheduler with scheduling appointments for maintenance, repairs, and other services
• Collaborate with service technicians and managers to ensure accurate documentation of service work and billing
• Help promote and sell billable hours for various services, providing customers with clear explanations of pricing and service offerings
• Maintain organized records of customer interactions, work orders, and service documentation
• Ensure a smooth and efficient flow of service operations, assisting where needed within the service department

This individual would be expected to work Tuesday to Friday 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. and Saturday 8:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m., with some extended hours as needed.

Compensation

• Hourly rate of $20, plus performance-based bonuses

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required
• Proficiency in computer skills and ability to quickly learn new software programs
• Strong attention to detail and ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently
• Previous experience in a customer service or service-related role is preferred
• Experience with cashiering or billing systems is a plus
• Familiarity with service and repair processes is a bonus
• Boating experience or interest in the marine industry is desirable, but not required
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment
• A positive, customer-first attitude with a willingness to learn
