Job Description: Cannabis Retail Inventory Manager
Position Summary:
The Cannabis Retail Inventory Manager is responsible for overseeing and maintaining accurate inventory control processes for a cannabis dispensary with a heavy focus on compliance with Nevada state regulations. This role ensures that all cannabis products are properly received, stored, tracked, and reported, minimizing discrepancies and optimizing stock levels. The ideal candidate has experience in inventory management, a strong understanding of Nevada cannabis laws, and excellent organizational skills.
Key Responsibilities:
Inventory Management & Compliance:
- Maintain accurate inventory records for all cannabis and non-cannabis products using inventory tracking software (e.g., METRC, Dutchie, or similar).
- Conduct daily, weekly, monthly, and quarterly inventory audits to reconcile stock levels and identify and investigate discrepancies.
- Ensure all inventory movements (intake, sales, transfers, returns, destruction) are documented in compliance with the Nevada Cannabis Compliance Board (CCB) regulations and internal company procedures.
- Monitor expiration dates, product quality, and proper storage
- Prepare and submit compliance reports as required by the CCB and other regulatory
- Regularly audit and reconcile discrepancies between the company’s internal POS system and METRC
Receiving & Stocking:
- Oversee the intake of new product shipments, ensuring accuracy and compliance with vendor invoices and manifests in a timely manner.
- Properly sublot, label, and store products according to state regulations and company
- Maintain an organized inventory storage system to facilitate efficient access and minimize product loss.
Data Analysis & Reporting:
- Track sales trends to optimize inventory levels and minimize overstock or
- Generate inventory performance reports to assist management in purchasing
- Identify slow-moving or expiring products and develop strategies to reduce waste and maximize revenue.
Team Collaboration & Training:
- Work closely with purchasing, compliance, and sales teams to ensure smooth inventory
- Train dispensary staff on proper inventory handling, reporting, and compliance
- Train and manage a small inventory team and assist in hiring new staff as needed.
- Assist in investigating and resolving inventory discrepancies, theft, or loss prevention
- Write, review, and update SOPs regarding inventory management, receiving, and data reporting as needed.
Regulatory & Security Compliance:
- Stay up-to-date with Nevada cannabis laws, METRC reporting requirements, industry best practices, and internal company guidelines.
