Responsibilities
We are seeking a dynamic and customer-focused Payroll Specialist I to provide payroll support to our team. The ideal candidate is great with time-management, organized, and pays great attention to detail.
What You’ll Do
- Collect and summarize time-keeping information
- Audit time-keeping records and resolves variances utilizing tools in the Time and Attendance, Payroll and ticketing systems.
- Obtain supervisor approval of time card discrepancies
- Process employee advances and paybacks
- Update employee payroll records as need
- Print and issue paychecks
- Process pay card payments
- Process manual checks, terminations, and semi-monthly payroll
- Incorporates a variety of deductions into a periodic payroll
- Issues pay and pay related information to employees (reimbursements, PTO buybacks)
- May maintain records on vacation, sick leave, etc.
- Answer questions from employees related to payroll topics
- Performs other work-related duties as required

Qualifications
What You’ll Need
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- At least one (1) year of payroll experience
What’s Required
- You must pass a pre-employment drug test and a background check before beginning work.
- You must speak clearly and effectively in English and dress in a manner suited to a professional office. A pleasant personality, good interpersonal skills and the ability to deal positively with fellow employees, occasionally under stressful conditions, is a prime requisite.
- You must understand the principles and practices of payroll procedures.
- You must have the ability to read and interpret documents such as manuals and instructions.
- You must have knowledge of Microsoft Office programs, HRIS, and payroll systems.
- Each employee must obey safety instructions, rules, policy and procedures and use provided and installed safety devices and safety equipment. An employee is responsible for notifying his/her immediate supervisor of a violation or deficiency in safe and healthful working conditions.
