Essential Functions
- Develop and implement the communications strategy and manage the communication for specific initiatives and improvements
- Advise the Superintendent and other school corporation personnel on effective communication and public relation strategies, continually striving to improve these areas through proactive leadership and professional staff development.
- Assist in preparing public statements, presentations or other information for the Superintendent as requested.
- Maintain sensitive and confidential communications.
- Oversee the production of publications designed to inform stakeholders about activities and information about the school corporation.
- Establish positive working relationships with members of television, print and radio media for the purpose of ensuring information is accurate and provided in a timely manner.
- Coordinate media interviews and press conferences.
- Ensure the corporation website, social media channels and videos are used in innovative ways to keep the community informed.
- Act as a liaison with business and civic organizations to enhance involvement and support of the school system.
- Reinforce appropriate use of branding across platforms that promote the mission and values of the school system.
- Coordinate electronic flyer requests from community/staff.
- Utilize creative means for marketing and promoting the district to the community.
- Serve as a resource to district staff to ensure equitable access to information including translation of materials and ADA compliance.
- Maintain regular and punctual attendance.
- Serves as district website administrator.
- Assists as site administrator for the district Google calendar.
- Other duties as assigned by the Superintendent.
- Educational Requirements: Bachelor’s Degree in Communications, Journalism, English or related field.
- Experience: Five years of professional experience in organizational and public communications.
- Previous school communications, media and/or journalism experience strongly preferred.
- Possess Skills and Knowledge:
- Effectively communicate across multiple channels
- Impeccable writing, editing, social media, publication and video production skills required.
- Must be adept at multitasking in a fast-paced environment.
- Other:
- Have a valid driver’s license with ability to drive within and outside of CPCSC.
- Flexibility required.
- Attend school board meetings, presentations, ceremonies and school programs.
- Extended access to cell phone, email and other communications.
- Be an example of exemplary adult behavior for students.
- Project a genuine care and concern for all students.
