The Manager of Government Relations will assist in representing the Ohio State Medical Association (OSMA) before the Ohio General Assembly, state agencies, and other groups involved in the legislative process. Working under the direction of our Vice President of Advocacy, this individual will be part of our lobbying team, assisting in advancing the organizations policies and strategies. The Manager of Government Relations will be communicating and meeting with OSMA members to engage them in the advocacy process and administer the OSMA Political Action Committee activities including fundraising and regulatory filings.

Responsibilities Will Include
- Assists in representing the OSMA policies to external and internal audiences regarding legislative issues.
- Identifies emerging legislative issues.
- Responds to OSMA member requests for legislative information.
- Responds to requests from state legislators and regulators and their staffs.
- Assist in the development of key materials, such as talking points, legislative summaries, factsheets, testimony, reports, and letters.
- Assists in the administrative functions of the lobbying team such as scheduling meetings and running advocacy days.
- Manages the OSMA Political Action Committee.
- Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university.
- Minimum two years of legislative, political and/or lobbying experience.
- Self-motivated and able to work well independently.
- Able to manage multiple projects and prioritize work to meet deadlines.
- Willingness and ability to travel and to maintain a flexible work schedule that includes early morning, evenings and occasional weekend hours.
- Effective oral, written, and interpersonal communication and strong presentation skills.
- Proficiency in relevant computer applications and database systems.
- Working knowledge of the healthcare industry, preferred.
