4. Previous paraprofessional or related work preferred.
5. Has the ability to maintain confidentiality.
REPORTS TO: Special Education Director
SUPERVISES: Student(s)
POSITION GOAL: To provide consistent and responsive training, onboarding, support, feedback and procedures to special education paraprofessionals.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Take directions from teachers, the Director of Special Education and building administrators.
- Be able to follow and clearly explain students’ Individual Education Plans.
- Be able to consistently document and explain documentation related to student progress monitoring for Individual Education Plans.
- Maintains the same high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality of information about students as is expected of the teacher.
- Able to model and explain a variety of strategies related to students with disabilities including.
- Be able to follow and clearly explain behavior management plans for individual student(s).
- Be able to consistently implement and explain research-based strategies that support learning in behavior.
- Be able to implement and explain strategies related to visual supports, AAC devices, and use of assistive technology.
- Maintains good working relationships with others.
- Demonstrate effective communication skills with students, parents, staff and administration.
- Helps manage substitute paraprofessional needs daily.
- May provide temporary support to new students with IEPs until more permanent solutions can be found.
- When needed, perform personal care duties for student(s) with disabilities (including but not limited to: feeding, clothing, lavatory, toileting, diapering and wash-up routines).
- With the student operates and cares for durable medical equipment and assistive technology used by the student.
- Follows and embodies the district’s missions, vision, and belief statement.
- Other duties as may be assigned by the Director of Special Education, or the building administrators to meet the needs of the district.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Work year established by the Board of Education. Pay rate and other benefits as per the negotiated contract.
EVALUATION: Evaluation procedure shall follow the Clarke Community School District board policy 411.7.
