What are the responsibilities and job description for the Public Relations Coordinator position at Clarke County Hospital?
Essential Functions/Responsibilities:
- Communicates effectively and develops partnerships with community entities such as Public Health, local school districts, Emergency Management, Parents as Teachers, Food Banks, Crisis Intervention & Advocacy Center, etc.
- Collaborates with Clarke County Public Health to administer Community Health Needs Assessment every 5 years.
- Develops, coordinates, implements, monitors and evaluates comprehensive health education programs within our community.
- Provides educational opportunities through facilitating a variety of classes/workshops including Matter of Balance, Better Choices Better Health, Tai Chi, BLS, and other classes/workshops out in the community for community members.
- Partners with local senior centers and other organizations serving older adults to provide free blood pressure checks, BMI Checks, Care Safety for Senior classes, Emergency Preparedness for Seniors classes, etc.
- Provide oversight to an on-site SHIIP Counselor.
- Identifies the need for, develops, and coordinates a variety community wellness programs/workshops at CCH for patients, local families and other community members such as Overcoming Barriers to Protecting Children, ACE’s trainings, Child Mental Health Response Trainings, Safe Sitter, cooking/nutritional classes, stress management, etc.
- Participates in community events/activities including but not limited to “Back to School” Nights and Tuesday Night in the Park events, Bicycle Safety events to build relationships with community members and to promote CCH services.
- Promotes and helps coordinate job shadowing opportunities, internships, hospital tours, community presentations, and other career exploration opportunities for local students (K- higher education).
- Collaborates with CCH departments and providers to plan, organize and implement evening or weekend workshops for community members to attend to learn about a specific health related topics (diabetes, pain, orthopedics, ENT, mammograms through “Dinner with Doc” Format)
- Serves as a public representative of Clarke County Hospital, representing CCH in a positive, professional manner at all times. Works with community representatives to promote all aspects of the Hospital.
- Collaborates with Communications Manager to develop communication plan geared towards promoting CCH services within our local communities.
- Networks and builds relationships with a variety of community groups and businesses such as CCDC, Rotary, CIAC, women’s clubs, churches, Osceola Foods, etc. to schedule presentations to promote CCH services.
- Works with Communications Team to develop creative content for the purposes of engaging community members and promoting CCH services.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Associates degree from an accredited college or university.
- 2 years of experience in public relations and community organizing.
- Must have good communication skills and knowledge using Microsoft software.
- Principles of public speaking.
- Principles of educating individuals and/or groups.
- Ability to take initiative in developing, coordinating events, classes, partnerships, etc
- Must demonstrate an understanding and working knowledge of the Windows environment, have an excellent reading comprehension, good writing skills, detail oriented and exhibit an ability to access and use information in meaningful ways.
- Technologically savvy in the use of varied electronics and computer devices.
- Ability to produce communication materials to be used in the community or on the CCH website and/or social media platforms.
