What are the responsibilities and job description for the MRI Tech position at Clarke County Public Hospital?
Patient Care
- Performs various MRI (Radiology and CT exams if applicable) as needed on patients while conforming to established department techniques and procedures.
- Conducts safe cleaning techniques in the MRI scan room including insuring proper cleanliness of all surfaces and equipment.
- Develops and follows safe entry procedures into the MRI suite to ensure the safety or patients and staff.
- Establishes patient cooperation by reducing anxieties, providing explanations of treatment, and answering questions.
- Prepares patient for imaging procedure by positioning patient, adjusting immobilization devices, moving equipment into specified position, adjusting equipment controls to set exposure factors, and proper usage of identification markers.
- Minimizes radiation to patient and staff by practicing radiation protection techniques, using beam restrictive devices, patient shielding, and knowledge of exposure factors.
- Performs venipuncture as prescribed by a licensed practitioner.
- Maintains, and/or removes intravenous access as prescribed by a licensed practitioner.
- Identifies, prepares, and/or administers contrast agents as prescribed by a licensed practitioner.
- Corroborates a patient's clinical history with procedure and ensures information is documented and available for use by a licensed practitioner.

- Maintains necessary departmental files, reports, and records of diagnostic examinations performed, according to hospital policies.

- Performs other duties as directed by the department manager.

- Demonstrates Clarke County Hospital Standards of Behaviors as well as adheres to hospital policies and procedures and safety guidelines.
- Demonstrates ability to meet business needs of department with regular, reliable attendance.
- Employee maintains current licenses and/or certifications required for the position.
- Practices and reflects knowledge of HIPAA, DIA, DNV, OSHA and other federal/state regulatory agencies guiding healthcare.
- Completes all annual education and competency requirements within the calendar year.
- Is knowledgeable of hospital and department compliance requirements for federally funded healthcare programs (e.g. Medicare and Medicaid) regarding fraud, waste and abuse. Brings any questions or concerns regarding compliance to the immediate attention of hospital administrative staff. Takes appropriate action on concerns reported by department staff related to compliance.
Qualifications:
- Graduate from an AMA approved school or Radiologic Technology.
- MRI & Radiography experience
- ARRT Certification in Radiography
- Iowa permit to practice
- ARRT or equivalent certification in MR
- CPR certified
