POSITION SUMMARY


To serve as the Pre-Kindergarten program coordinator for Clarke County School District (CCSD) in accordance with Bright from the Start, Department of Early Care and Learning guidelines; To serve as the instructional leader for the Early Learning Center West and to oversee the day-to-day organization and operation of the site.


MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS


EDUCATION:

  • Master’s Degree in Early Childhood Education or related field


CERTIFICATION/LICENSE:

  • Hold or eligible for a valid Georgia Leadership Certification (L-5 or higher)


WORK EXPERIENCE:

  • Demonstrated experience in comprehensive school improvement and directing work associated with a standards-based early learning environment
  • Two (2) years experience in Georgia Pre-K or early learning program coordination; and
  • Three (3) years preschool / elementary classroom teaching experience


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES


  • Skills-based Competencies.
    Required to perform multiple tasks with a need to occasionally upgrade skills in order to meet changing job conditions. Specific skill-based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: oral and written communication skills; using pertinent software applications; problem-solving and mediating skills; and organizational skills.
  • Knowledge-based Competencies. Specific knowledge-based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: awareness of Early Head Start, Head Start, and Pre-K grant programs, stages of birth to five child development; methods of research-based instructional practices and lesson plan requirements for birth-5 years of age; methods of motivating and responding to the needs of staff, parents, and children; and awareness of codes, regulations, and laws related to preschool special education
  • Ability-based Competencies. Specific ability-based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include:providing direction and leadership to school staff; communicating with persons of varied backgrounds; maintaining confidentiality; establishing and maintaining constructive relationships; and adapting to changing priorities during the day-to-day operations of a school. Additional ability based competencies include: to schedule activities, meetings, and/or school-wide events; to work with a wide diversity of individuals; to work with and analyze various types of data; and to problem solve with data. Flexibility is required to work with others in a variety of circumstances; problem solving to identify issues and create action plans and/or resolutions in order to resolve conflict.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES


Manages and oversees implementation of the CCSD Pre-K program, ensuring compliance with Bright from the Start, Department of Early Care and Learning, state, federal, and local board policies and regulations.
  • Serves as Building Administrator for Early Learning Center West and co-supervises Pre-K staff at elementary school and early learning center sites.
  • Collaborates with grant coordinators to align the work of instructional coaches for Pre-K, Head Start, Preschool Special Education, and Early Head Start programs.
  • Manages recruitment and registration of Pre-K students.
  • Assists with Pre-K budget development and provides instructional data to guide fund distribution.
  • Uses assessment results to enhance student achievement and align with early learning performance standards and reviews program data to drive planning, professional development, and continuous improvement across Early Head Start, Head Start, Preschool Special Education, and Pre-K programs.
  • Collaborates with CCSD schools and community organizations to coordinate early learning projects and programs.
  • Coordinates the MTSS (Multi-Tiered System of Supports) process for Pre-K and Head Start programs.
  • Plans and leads staff meetings for Pre-K Coaches, Teachers, Paraprofessionals, and OEL West faculty, and serves as 504 Coordinator for the Office of Early Learning.
  • Coordinates and conducts staff evaluations for Early Learning Center staff.

Performs other related duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit.

Upper Body Mobility: Ability to use hands to grasp, and manipulate small objects; manipulate fingers, twist and bend at wrist and elbow; extend arms to reach outward and upward; use hands and arms to lift objects; turn, raise, and lower head.

Strength: Ability to lift, push, pull and/or carry objects which weigh as much as 5 or more pounds on a frequent basis. Incumbent may be required to physically restrain parties involved in a conflict.


Environmental Requirements: Ability to encounter constant work interruptions; work cooperatively with others; work independently; work indoors.

Mental Requirements: Ability to read, write, understand, interpret and apply information at a moderately complex level essential for successful job performance; math skills at a high school proficiency level; judgement and the ability to process information quickly; learn quickly and follow verbal procedures and standards; give verbal instruction; rank tasks in order of importance; copy, compare, compile and coordinate information and records. Understand how to manage stress.


Remote Work Requirements: Ability to be flexible and adapt as needed between various in-person working environments


Additional Work Conditions & Physical Abilities: Generally the job requires 60% sitting, 20% walking, and 20% standing.
