Clarke’s Sheet Metal, Inc. is seeking an Electronics Field Service Technician to join our PyroGuard® Spark Detection and Extinguishment System Department.
Clarke’s Sheet Metal, Inc. is an established, family owned, company that has been supplying equipment used by the wood products industry since 1952. The company is located in Eugene, Oregon.
The PyroGuard® Spark Detection and Extinguishment system, which Clarke’s manufactures and supplies, is used to identify and extinguish sparks, before they have a chance to enter sensitive dust collection or storage equipment. When applied properly, the PyroGuard System can virtually eliminate the possibility of harm to plant personnel, and can minimize the extent of damage caused by a fire or an explosion.
Job duties and responsibilities include:
The Technicians time would be split between in-office/department duties as well as out of office/Field Service duties. The time split between these duties varies based on the Customer’s requirements.
In-Office/Department Duties:
- Production of new system components.
- Repairing of used and/or damaged components, sent in from customers.
- Technical phone support and trouble shooting.
Field Service Duties:
- Travel, to and from customer’s locations primarily throughout the Continental United States and occasionally to Canada and Mexico. Depending on the plant location, the size of the system and the customer’s schedule, the Field Service Trips can last up to one (1) week and may involve, irregular hours, weekends and working over holidays. The Field Service work is compensated at a higher pay rate.
- Inspection, testing and troubleshooting of equipment, as it is installed at the customer’s facilities. Diagnose technical problems and determine the proper solutions.
- Training on the operation and maintenance of the system with plant personnel.
- Communicate with plant personnel and other contractors to provide a professional service experience.
Education, Knowledge and Skills that applicants should have, but not limited to:
- Recommended to have obtained an Associate of Science Degree in Electronics or related field, or similar certified course work in applicable field of study including at least one year of related work experience.
- Electro-Mechanical troubleshooting skills.
- Competent in Windows OS and Microsoft Office.
- Strong knowledge of reading schematics and wiring control panels is desired.
- Utilize test equipment (digital voltage meter, etc.).
- PLC knowledge and understanding (preferred but not required).
- Ability to work effectively with customers.
- Skilled in written and oral communication.
- Must be self-motivated and able to work independently.
- Willing and able to travel to customers location in the United States (primarily), Canada and Mexico (occasionally).
- Valid Drivers License and Insurable. Have, or have the ability to get, a Passport.

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $50,000.00 - $75,000.00 per year
