Seasonal Field Inspection Technician and Trap Collector - Days (Iowa)

Clarke Mosquito Services of Des Moines, IA is seeking to hire a Seasonal Field Inspection Technician and Trap Collector who will be responsible for applying larvicide to mosquito breeding to control mosquito larval populations and retrieving insects collected in mosquito traps within assigned territories. Hands-on training will be provided in all areas, no experience needed. This position is perfect for someone who is interested in public health, sustainability, learning different aspects of mosquito operations and enjoys working outdoors. WORK SCHEDULE AND SALARY

• Starting wage of $17/hr
• Average up to ~35-40 hours per week
• 6:00 am to 2:00 pm Monday-Friday (Sundays as needed, end times may vary based on business needs)
• Possibility for additional hours by working nights
• Supports the summer seasonal operations (generally April - October)
  
  

QUALIFICATIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF A FIELD INSPECTION TECHNICIAN AND TRAP COLLECTOR

• Be 18 years of age or older
• Have a valid Driver's License with an excellent driving record
• Must be self-motivated
• Possess a high school degree or equivalent with high school level math skills
• Communicate effectively in English in both written and verbal forms
• Required to pass the Iowa Department of Agriculture General Standards Exam within three attempts (training provided)
• Comfortable walking through various and sometimes challenging terrain
• Ability to work during the entire season (generally April - October)
• Ability to work independently
• Ability to remove all jewelry in compliance to company policy
• Have good physical dexterity
• Willing to learn other aspects of the company operations
  
  

RESPONSIBLITIES

• Perform work independently in the field successfully after the completion of training
• Route and drive to potential breeding sites and trap locations
• Inspect bodies of water for mosquito larva
• Apply treatment to positive breeding sites by hand
• Input field data into smartphone through company application
• Smartphone/Tablet will be provided for navigation to work site, communication and logging daily work
• Comfortable working in various and sometimes challenging terrain
