Clarke Mosquito Services of Des Moines, IA is seeking to hire several Seasonal Mosquito Night Technicians. This is a driving position, and you will be controlling adult populations by applying an Ultra-Low Volume (ULV) mosquito control product by truck to contracted communities, subdivisions, industrial sites, and other areas. You will be responsible for protecting our customers from disease and annoyance caused by mosquitoes. Hands-on training will be provided in all areas, no experience needed. This position is perfect for someone who is passionate about public health, sustainability, and who is looking for a flexible, PART TIME ON CALL graveyard shift position. WORK SCHEDULE AND SALARY
This position earns a competitive hourly wage of $18 per hour and generally works PART TIME AND ON CALL, Sunday - Thursday, ~8:00 pm to 2:00/3:00 am (start/end times may vary, days, weekends and some holidays may be required based on business needs). The Mosquito Night Technician is a seasonal position and generally works until around the end of September/early October.
QUALIFICATIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF A MOSQUITO NIGHT TECHNICIAN
Responsibilities include but not limited to:
- Ability to follow GPS Routes and read maps
- Truck ULV (ultra-low volume) spraying of contracted communities streets, industrial sites, and other areas
- Document all treatment records into our company database after treatment is complete
- Apply pesticide to mosquito habitats
QUALIFICATIONS
- Must be 18 years of age or older

Required to pass the Iowa Department of Agriculture Exams within three attempts (training provided)
- We have excellent training materials but some preparation and studying will be necessary
- Possess a high school degree or equivalent
- Communicate effectively in English in both written and verbal forms
- Have a valid Driver's License with an excellent driving record
- Be able to sit, drive a vehicle for extended periods of time
- Must be able to work through the end of our season (generally September/October) though a few college students that will return to school in August will be hired each year
- Candidate must be comfortable performing assigned duties in the field from a vehicle (driving most of the shift) while navigating through various residential communities, urban environments and traffic patterns where environmental conditions are affected by weather
- Capable of using a handheld technical device including, but not limited to, smartphones, GPS, and system applications
