SECTION 1 : Job Summary\n An Optical Sales Associate will achieve a world class Total Patient Experience that both maximizes retail sales while also supporting the patients' medical needs. This team member is trained to dispense and fit glasses and contacts, working from the prescriptions written by Optometrists and Ophthalmologists. They connect the patient needs to the goods and services offered.\n SECTION 2 : Duties and Responsibilities (Responsibilities necessary to accomplish job functions) \n\nEmbrace and execute our Total Patient Experience to build relationships with all patients while delivering great medical support\nDetermine patient wants and needs and selling to exceed their expectations\nAssist patients in selecting frames according to style and color, coordinating frames with facial and eye measurements and optical prescriptions\nAble to operate the auto-lensometer and manual lensometer\nEducate and recommend specific lenses, lens coatings and frames to suit patient needs\nCan accurately collect measurements such as bridge, eye size, temple length, seg heights, vertex distance, pupillary distance, and pantoscopic tilt\nDispense patient orders and repair and adjust patient frames\nDispense all glasses and / or contact lens orders using current process\nAcknowledge patients in a friendly, approachable way that invites them into the office\nMaintain frame standards with cleaning, organization, full and well-presented areas\nFollow all protocols to keep Frame inventory accurate\nDesire to gain industry knowledge and training\nDemonstrates initiative in accomplishing practice goals\nConsistently creating a positive work environment by being team-oriented and patient-focused\nCommitment to work hours that meet the needs of the business which may include weekends, schedule changes or an extended schedule\nAdheres to all safety policies and procedures in performing job duties and responsibilities while supporting a culture of high quality and great customer service.\nPerforms other duties that may be necessary or in the best interest of the organization.\n\n SECTION 3 : Patient Population Served \n\nTeam members will work with patients of all ages, races, and genders. \n\n SECTION 4 : Education, Licensure & Certification Requirements \n\nHigh School Diploma or GED\n\n SECTION 5 : Experience Requirements \n\nPrevious medical office experience preferred; previous ophthalmic experience strongly preferred.\nAssociates Degree preferred\nMinimum of 1 year in a position interacting with customers / patients or the equivalent combination of education and experience\n\n SECTION 6 : Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Requirements \n\nProfessional in appearance and actions\nLogical and Critical thinking skills\nCustomer-focused with excellent written, listening and verbal communication skills\nEnjoys learning new technologies and systems\nDetail oriented, professional attitude, reliable\nFavorable result on Background check\nExhibits a positive attitude and is flexible in accepting work assignments and priorities\nMeets attendance and tardiness expectations\nManagement and organizational skills to support the leadership of this function\nAbility to follow or provide verbal & written instructions with sufficient grammar and spelling skills to avoid mistakes or misinterpretations\nInterpersonal skills to support customer service, functional, and team mate support need\n\nAble to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing\n\nAbility for basic to intermediate problem solving, including mathematics\nBasic to intermediate computer skills\n\nProficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook\n\n\n\nTravel to other site locations may be necessary. May be exposed to blood or bodily fluids. May also be exposed to various cleaning supplies. \n Equipment : Regularly uses telephone, computer, fax, printer and copier. May use Optometric equipment / devices per sub-specialty requirement such as lensometer; keratometer / autorefractor; phoropter; visual acuity measuring; retinal camera; corneal topography unit; or retinoscope. Other equipment may be used as needed. Must be able to work with precise tools and equipment; must have dexterity to use these items correctly and safely.
