What are the responsibilities and job description for the ESL Coach/Facilitator position at Clarksville School District?
The Clarksville School District is seeking an ESL Coach/Facilitator for the 2025-2026 school year. This will be a grant funded position which will be available as long as the grant funding is available. Below are the qualifications for the position. The ESL Facilitator will work with teachers throughout the district to grow capacity in differentiation, planning, scaffolding, and culturally responsive teaching for students whose first language is not English. The position will be 240 days, 8 hours per day.
- Education & Certification:
- A bachelor’s degree in education, TESOL, Linguistics, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
- A valid teaching license with an ESOL/ELL (English Language Learner) endorsement or certification.
- Additional endorsements in bilingual education or reading specialist (optional but beneficial).
- Experience: Minimum of 3 years teaching experience in an ESOL or multilingual learning environment.
- Experience developing and delivering ESOL instructional strategies and supporting teachers in lesson planning and differentiation.
- Leadership experience (as a mentor teacher, instructional coach, or department lead) is preferred.
- Skills & Knowledge:
- Bilingual skills.
- Deep understanding of second language acquisition, ELP standards, and best practices for ELD (English Language Development).
- Ability to provide professional development and coaching to teachers on ESOL strategies.
- Knowledge of differentiation, scaffolding, and culturally responsive teaching.
- Strong collaboration and communication skills to work with teachers, administrators, and families.
- Familiarity with ESOL compliance and federal/state regulations (e.g., Title III, English Language Proficiency Assessments).
