Job Title: Production Planner
Reports To: Owner and Director of Business Development
Location: Greensboro, NC
Job Overview:
The Production Planner is responsible for creating, maintaining, and monitoring production schedules to ensure efficient operations, optimal resource allocation, and timely delivery of products. This role requires coordination with various departments including manufacturing and sales, to align production activities with business objectives and customer demands.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Production Scheduling:
- Develop and maintain detailed production schedules based on customer orders, forecasts, and inventory levels.
- Monitor production progress and adjust schedules as necessary to meet deadlines.
- Update MRP software (Netsuite) as needed including lead times, minimum stock levels, reorder points, BOM updates, time-tracking.
2. Resource Planning:
- Coordinate the availability of materials, equipment, and labor to optimize production efficiency.
- Identify and resolve potential bottlenecks or resource conflicts.
- Coordinate international purchases and consolidate freight for container load shipments from multiple suppliers.
3. Inventory Management:
- Collaborate with the management team to ensure adequate stock levels of raw materials and finished goods.
- Conduct inventory cycle counts to ensure inventory accuracy.
- Minimize waste and manage inventory turnover effectively.
4. Collaboration and Communication:
- Work closely with procurement, production, and logistics teams to ensure seamless operations.
- Communicate production schedules and changes.
5. Data Analysis and Reporting:
- Analyze production data and identify trends to improve operational efficiency.
- Prepare regular reports on production performance, capacity utilization, and delivery timelines.
6. Continuous Improvement:
- Participate in process improvement initiatives to enhance productivity and reduce costs.
- Implement best practices in production planning and scheduling.
Skills and Competencies:
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in production planning software (e.g., Netsuite, SAP, Oracle, or other ERP systems).
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work under pressure.
- Detail-oriented with a focus on accuracy.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Operations Management, Industrial Engineering, or experience in related field.
- Experience: 2–5 years of experience in production planning or a similar role in a manufacturing or operations environment.
- Certifications: APICS CPIM (Certified in Production and Inventory Management) or similar is a plus.
Work Environment:
- Typically works in an office setting with occasional visits to the production floor.
- May require occasional overtime to meet project deadlines or resolve scheduling conflicts.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $50,000.00 - $100,000.00 per year
