JOB DESCRIPTION:
We are seeking an experienced, compassionate optometrist specializing in vision care and medical optometry to join our expanding team of eye care professionals. In this role, you will collaborate closely with our ophthalmologists to co-manage medical patients, performing pre- and post-operative assessments, conducting comprehensive eye exams, diagnosing and managing eye diseases and injuries, and educating patients on their vision care options. You will be an integral part of our team, ensuring the highest standard of patient care.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Co-manage medical patients with ophthalmologists, ensuring timely assessments for pre- and post-operative care.
- Perform routine and specialized eye exams, assessing for diseases, injuries, or other vision-related issues.
- Provide prescriptions for corrective lenses and ensure proper fitting.
- Address patient concerns, answering questions, and providing education on eye care and vision correction options.
- Analyze test results and share them with patients, explaining their significance and next steps.
- Prescribe medications and treatments as necessary.
- Maintain and utilize ophthalmic equipment, ensuring it is in proper working condition.
- Collaborate with the team to meet patient needs and provide comprehensive care.
- Document all patient interactions, test results, and treatments in their medical charts.
- Participate in ongoing staff development and training initiatives.
- Refer patients to specialists when required.
- Respond to after-hours patient calls as necessary.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Doctor of Optometry (D.O.) degree from an accredited institution.
- Current state optometry license, valid and in good standing.
- Minimum of four years of experience as a practicing optometrist with a focus on medical optometry.
- Proficiency with ophthalmic equipment and technology.
- Experience in prescribing and fitting corrective lenses.
- Up-to-date knowledge of eye disease testing and treatments.
- Demonstrated history of providing excellent patient care.
