Description
As an Clinical Specialist, you will offer direct supportive services to children/youth and their families with mental, behavioral, or emotional disturbances resulting in significant functional impairment. Providing education, training, and support to your clients in the home and community, you will engage them in change, help sustain their progress and enable them to become more successful in their family unit.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Work a flexible schedule which may include weekends and after school hours.
- Required to use their own vehicle for transportation of clients, and must be able to provide their own reliable transportation to and from their assigned place of work.
- Services may include: escorting an individual to appointments or recreational activities, parental skills training, life skills training, therapeutic mentoring, care coordination activities, and implementation of a behavioral management plan when necessary.
- Engage client and family in the service delivery of an Individualized Service Plan (ISP) as directed by the supervisor.
- Work to join appropriately with individuals and/or families in establishing effective professional relationship with an awareness of maintaining appropriate boundaries.
- Document all services provided according to requirements and standards in the established timeframes within the Electronic Health Record (EHR).
- Establish and maintain effective and collaborative working relationships with all collateral community agency professionals.
- Participate in collaborative treatment planning and coordination of meetings for all clients, including those involving schools, other providers, court appearances, parents, etc.
- Attend and actively participate in supervision meetings weekly. Be prepared to discuss current caseload.
- Attend and actively participate in all treatment team and other staff meetings.
- Attend and actively participate in all required trainings including ELearning.
- Complete and submit each item by due date each pay period: timesheet, mileage form and all other required client documentation.
- Act and serve as a role model for each individual and family involved.
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Minimum of Bachelor Degree in a Human Services field
- Experience working with youth one-on-one, experience in presenting a skill building or social development program, or experience and knowledge related to behavior management techniques
- Minimum of one year of experience
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
- Possession of a valid driver’s license and verification of a safe driving record.
- Must qualify to be approved for Qualified Mental Health Professional (QMHP) through Virginia Department of Health Professions.

- Registered or willing and able to become registered with the VA Board as a Qualified Mental Health Professional- Children (QMHP-C) or Trainee (QMHP-T)
