Nurse: HEALTH SERVICE SPECIALIST
CLASS LTD is a community service provider for individuals with intellectual & developmental disabilities in Southeast Kansas.
LOCATION: This position is in Columbus,Ks / Pittsburg,Ks
EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION: Must be a graduate of an accredited school of nursing, with a Practical Nursing (LPN) License for the State of Kansas.
QUALIFICATIONS: Minimum of 2 year nursing experience ,community based nursing preferred.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
- Must maintain a current & valid Driver’s License of the state of residence & be determined as an ‘insurable driver’ by the vehicle insurance carrier for CLASS LTD.
- Must comply with all federal, state, & local laws.
- Must have no record of convictions, administrative findings or history of abuse, neglect, or exploitation of children or adults unable to protect their own interests.
- Must have no conviction of other crimes, including, but not limited to crimes against persons, sex crimes, crimes against property, violation of personal rights, public safety, public morals, any crimes that would be classified as a felony, or deemed unacceptable for employment with CLASS LTD.
- Must be willing to work within a team structure and be receptive to feedback from other team members.
- Must have excellent organizational skills and the ability to multitask.
- Must be proficient with the use of computers & software programs.
- Must have effective teaching skills.
- Must be able to exercise good judgement & discretion in handling confidential health information.
JOB DUTIES/ RESPONSIBILITIES: The (HSS) for Cherokee / Crawford County will plan, coordinate, and evaluate the continuity of care, safety, & health/ wellness activities for CLASS LTD clients in Cherokee / Crawford. The HSS must relate effectively with others in a team atmosphere, while maintaining good work relationships with physicians and other health providers. The HSS will participate in client assessments, review medical histories, and develop treatment care plans as needed. He/she will participate in all phases of education, maintenance of client records, review of policies, practices, and skill assessment of direct support staff. The HSS will train all direct support staff on delegated nursing tasks, including client medication administration. The HSS is responsible for the process of documenting, reporting, tracking, and analyzing medication errors. The HSS must have a clear understanding of the delegation of nursing tasks to unlicensed direct support staff, as designated by the Kansas State Board of Nursing.
WORK SCHEDULE: Monday through Friday, as designated. This is a Full-time position.
