Job Summary
Outside Services Staff Members are responsible for providing high quality customer service to guests while playing golf on the Baltimore Municipal Golf Corporation courses. This role helps ensure a positive golfing experience for all golfers by maintaining the orderly and timely movement of tee times, monitoring the pace of play, ensuring that clean, fully charged, fully functional golf carts are available for golfers to use throughout the day, and ensuring golf course policies are followed. Outside Services Staff Members perform a vital customer service role that ensures customer satisfaction and returning golfers.
Principal Responsibilities
- Consistently interacts with golfers in a friendly, positive, and helpful manner.
- Routinely educates players on course conditions and local course rules.
- Displays professional appearance and demeanor to golfers, guests, and staff.
- Collaborates with, and assists, other staff members in a professional and timely manner.
- Successfully manages the orderly and on time movement of tee times.
- Maintains communication with the Golf Shop to ensure an up to date and accurate tee sheet.
- Ensures an adequate supply of scorecards and pencils are available at cart storage and the starter’s booth.
- Assists golfers in maintaining a reasonable pace of play on the golf course.
- Works effectively with the Golf Shop to keep an accurate pace of play.
- Interacts with the Golf Shop to resolve any pace of play problems.
- Ensures all necessary barrier ropes are in place and removes and places course flags as necessary.
- Safely transport and stage golf carts available for rental by golfers.
- Assigns golf carts in accordance with established BMGC policy. Tracks the use and availability of golf carts and rental equipment.
- Inspect the mechanical, operational, and structural condition of the carts before staging or storing. Promptly deliver written and verbal notice of deficiencies that may limit the aesthetics or safety of the golf carts to the professional staff.
- Promptly remove trash and wash carts before storing in the cart storage facility each day.
- Routinely ensure that the storage of golf carts follows course policies and guidelines.
- Assist, as needed, with general clubhouse and grounds cleanliness and presentation.
Work Environment
This job operates in a recreational environment including regularly working outside in the heat or cold. This role routinely uses equipment such as walkie talkies and golf carts.

Experience/Qualifications
- Customer service experience
- General knowledge of, or interest in, golf course operations
- Must be available for weekend, holiday, and shift work
- Valid Maryland state driver’s license
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
Seasonal part-time position during the golf season. This role is expected to work days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Based on weather conditions, staffing, and the busyness of the particular golf course this role could work from 15 – 40 or more hours per week during the season.
