DESCRIPTION OF JOB SCOPE
Sanitation 4 is an employee in the sanitation department. This role is a critical member to our operations team and is responsible for maintaining the integrity of product quality and food safety by ensuring that all production equipment, structural and storage facilities, restrooms, resting areas, and parking lots are in compliance with sanitary, GMP(Good Manufacturing Practices), federal, state and local food protection standards, and Classic Salads programs. This position has direct responsibility for ensuring all work activities under its span of control are performed with attention to the highest standards of food quality, safe processes, compliance with all appropriate legal requirements.
DESCRIPTION OF JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Adhere to all Classic Salads Food Safety and GMP Policies, including Basic Policies (TRN-0101, TRN-102, TRN-103. TRN-104. TRN-105. TRN-1061.
- Complete Classic Salads Standard Sanitation Procedures (TRN-0400), CS-SOP-01, CS-SOP-6037
- Partner with department managers to establish production and quality control standards for food safety and sanitation.
- Implements and maintains food safety and sanitation industry standard.
- Enforce food safety and do corrective actions identified by manager according to HACCP principles.
- Ensures that employees have the required food safety, sanitation, and occupational safety training.
- Responsible for operations that comply with federal, state, local, and/or company sanitation and food safety policies and regulations.
- Prepares all required reports and documentation in a timely manner.
- Maintains up-to-date status on overall activities of the team, identifying problem areas and taking corrective actions.
- Leads all action that involves or encompasses third party audit and food safety agencies.
- Communicates with management and production personnel on sanitation, quality, and HACCP issues, and recommended changes in equipment.
- Compiles required reports regarding regular inspections, sanitation violations, and steps taken to resolve deficiencies according to company policy.
- Coordinates company's master schedule activities.
- Complies with pre-operation inspection guidelines.
- Cross-train sanitation crew in all sanitation tasks and responsibilities.
- Report and investigate all injuries and incidents big/small.
- Report broken or damaged equipment.
- Directly supervises sanitation lead and sanitation crew.
- Supervisory responsibilities include: training employees, planning, assigning and directing work, appraising performance, addressing problems and assist in diciplinary process.
- Wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): bump cap, hearing protection, hair net, beard net, eye protection (goggles), face shield, gloves, slip resistant shoes, wet/rain suit, apron etc.
- Work overtime, weekends, and holidays as necessary.
- Able to work under pressure and time constraints.
- Able to work in a cold/wet environment (34-36 F)
- Communicate with other departments as necessary.
- Forklift license required.
- Use basic math and organization skills daily
- Be conscious to reduce material spoilage.
- Follow all OSHA requirements for lift trucks.
- Complete a forklift inspection before use daily.
- Follow appropriate procedure to charge forklifts
- Investigate, document, and report disciplinary infraction to sanitation manager.
- Weekly review Primus lab results with sanitation manager.
- Follow directions from sanitation manager.
EDUCATION AND/OR WORK EXPERIENCE
High School diploma/GED is required. Associate's degree with food science, agriculture, or related discipline is highly desired. Bachelor's degree is preferred. Bilingual (English and Spanish) a must. Two to four years related experience or equivalent in manufacturing environment (food industry preferred). Demonstrated proficiency in supervising and motivating subordinates. Ability to manage priorities and workflow within constantly changing priorities with enthusiasm. Relocate to Yuma Az./Royal Oaks Ca. during seasonal rotation preferred. Basic computer skills (Microsoft Word, Excel)
