Job Summary
Assist operators with first piece inspection and assist in identifying any training issues.
100% completion of first piece inspections as required per procedures, that require a FAI. Document all results in the data collection system.
Perform last piece inspections prior to moving jobs at completion to the next operation in the job routing. Complete the task in the ERP system.
Perform random quality audits, by checking jobs in cell to ensure parts are manufactured to print specifications and documentation is completed correctly and timely. All random audits are to be documented in the data collection system.
Ensure travelers, inspection reports, and key characteristics are completed and documented properly.
Trains personnel in proper gage use, data collection frequencies, SPC and quality related work instructions (quality alerts, containment, reaction plan, etc.).
Ensure operators understand job notes, customer requirements and special requirements.
Verify that proper gages are present.
Verify that in process inspections are completed timely.
Ensure that documentation is legible and accurate.
Assist operators as needed and act as a liaison with questions and concerns.
Assist in non-conforming activity for assigned area (e.g., Red Tags, scrap material, MRB).
Review scrap at end of shift and/or at job completion.
Assists in analysis of customer returns, as required.
Participates as a team member in corrective and preventative actions, as required.
Performs special assignments as delegated
Qualifications and Skills
- High school diploma / GED, prefer 4 years experience in aerospace manufacturing.
- Proficient in blueprint reading and GD&T.
- Knowledge of gaging methods is essential, calipers, micrometers, bore gages, pin gages, etc.
- Good problem-solving skills.
- Basic computer knowledge (windows operating system, Word, Excel, etc.)
- Proficient in quality analysis tools such as 8D, SPC, PPAP, etc. Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to teach basic problem-solving techniques.
- Knowledge in PPAP/FAI/AS9102/ISO9001.
- CMM operation and programming a plus.
