Position Description Position Summary : Logic / Rhetoric teachers are responsible for instructing students from 5th grade through 12th grade with requisite content knowledge using classical pedagogy in their specific disciplines. This position requires some background in Literature.Spiritual Requirements : Coram Deo Academy hires individuals that profess the historic Christian faith. The Nicene Creed describes the minimum understanding of and subscription to Christian belief required of employees of the Academy. Every employee must also profess to be a Christian believer and subscribe to this statement. As evidence of the indwelling of the Holy Spirit in their lives, Coram Deo Academy expects all employees to be actively involved in a local church where their faith in practice is consistent with the Academy’s mission and statement of faith.Expectations : Display the love of Christ and encourage students in developing a relationship with HimDemonstrate Christian love, faith, truthfulness, and virtue in all facets of life and teachingEstablish a Biblical understanding of authority and commit to Biblical peacemakingFocus on the heart when training, instructing, and disciplining childrenWork to build the school community toward a love of Christ and one anotherTeach students using Christian principles through classical philosophy and pedagogyCreate a vibrant learning atmosphere that fosters wonder and joyful engagementLead students through meaningful learning activities in alignment with the CDA CurriculumRead assigned coursework in preparation for each lessonCreate lesson plans using the principles from The Seven Laws of Teaching as a guidePrepare classroom presentations, homework assignments, and handoutsEvaluate and grade class work and assignmentsPost assignments and grades according to school policies and practicesObserve and manage student behavior and performanceCommunicate regularly with administration and parents, responding in a timely mannerEstablish a collaborative relationship with CDA parents using the University-Model TM approachRecord and maintain accurate student attendanceActively participate in faculty meetings and district meetingsComplete CDA’s Teacher Certification Program per policy and pursue additional continuing education requirementsPerform additional administrative duties as neededEssential Job Functions : Coram Deo Academy teachers are called to be models of what we desire for our students.
