GENERAL DUTIES 

Support the Clatskanie School District athletic objective, policy of interscholastic athletics, and Clatskanie School District Athletic Code. The District believes that extra-curricular activities are an integral part of school life. All students, regardless of their ability, should take part if possible to be able to grow physically, intellectually, and socially through participation. Coaches organize and conduct the athletic programs to meet the needs of the school District and their participants. 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

1. Experience in and/or knowledge of the sport, coaching techniques, and student supervision. 
2. Ability and willingness to  successfully communicate with students/athletes, parents, assistant coaches, and other school staff in both verbal and written forms.
3.  Ability to perform coaching responsibilities in accordance with school and District procedures and policies. 
4. Current CPR/First Aid Certification
5. Current Concussion Management and updates on all other OSAA requirements. May be obtained after being hired into the position.
6. Maintain integrity of confidential information relating to students, staff, or District patrons. 
7. The ability to work harmoniously with others 
8. Successful completion of background check. 

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Perform delegated duties assigned by the head coach
2. Be knowledgeable of and implement the planned system and style of play as established by the head coach 
3. Enforce all athletic regulations and take initiative in making proposals for improvement in the program through the head coach to the athletic director and principal
4. Attend meetings and professional developments organized and conducted by the high school head coach, athletic director, or principal
5. Demonstrate proper active supervision during all scheduled activities or student/athletes including, but not limited to, game, practice, locker room, and transportation
6. Maintain a thorough knowledge of skill development, training techniques, fundamentals, game strategy, and the rules of the sport
7. Be responsible for the care, distribution, and collection of District equipment and supplies
8. Communicate with athletes in a manner that models respect. Refrain from using profanity or derogatory language at participants, officials, parents or others associated with the program
9. Develop and maintain a positive rapport with students, athletes, parents, and  staff throughout the program and school
10. Cooperate with other school-sponsored sports by encouraging athletes to play more than one sport
11. Practice professional conduct during events and practices
12. Teach and model good sportsmanship to student-athletes  
13. Handle program finances that align with the current District practice and monetary handling policies
14. Report any conduct that violates the physical, mental or emotional safety of anyone involved in the program within 24 hours to the Athletic Director
15. Ensure safety of student-athletes by following all injury reporting protocols
16. Follow all OSAA requirements and guidelines
