This position qualifies for a hire on bonus of $1000 with 1/2 paid with 1st check after hire and 1/2 paid with 1st check following 6-month probationary period.
Clatsop Behavioral Healthcare has moved most positions to a 4 day 9 hour work week with paid 30 minute lunches to promote a better work life balance.
Clatsop Behavioral Healthcare (CBH) has an immediate opening for a full-time Engagement Specialist. The Engagement Specialist will provide outreach, screenings, and schedule assessments for individuals seeking services for mental health, substance use disorders, and medication management. This position will work collaboratively with community partners and with in-house staff who send referrals. This individual also works with clinical staff to triage clients to ensure appropriate follow-up steps are developed, based on client presentation and acuity. This position will be one of the first people most clients interact with at the Rapid Access Clinic; this may involve utilizing de-escalation strategies and conflict resolution techniques and knowing when to seek support from additional clinical Staff.
Essential Duties:
- Provide clients with information regarding services utilizing excellent customer service skills.
- Process incoming referrals from partner agencies and in-house staff.
- Follow up on referrals to ensure they are scheduled or re-scheduled as needed.
- Generate and forward status reports to referents to ensure continuity of care.
- Track referrals utilizing electronic medical record (EMR) and various Excel spreadsheets.
- Prepare and send referral and status reports.
- Help to manage client traffic flow at the clinic. Keep an eye on the lobby to ensure client behavior remains sage and appropriate. Engage in de-escalation strategies and ask for additional clinical assistance when in need.
- Enter new admissions or reopens previously clients in the electronic medical records system. Update data fields with the most recent information.
- Provide screenings to determine the appropriateness of consideration of an individual for participation in a specified program. The engagement specialist will go over treatment options.
- Manages caseload and closes clients from the screening program when appropriate.
- Promptly notify supervisor if access to care is hindered and may limit a client’s ability to receive services within state guidelines.
- Verify client OHP insurance coverage via MMIS.
- Screen individuals to determine the appropriateness of utilizing the Rapid Access Clinic. (RAC) Determine which clinical professional the client is best suited to meet with for follow-up if indicated. Coordinate with that professional/department to facilitate the next treatment service steps. The engagement specialist will go over treatment options.
- Coordinate daily activity and tasks with other Engagement Specialists.
- All CBH Staff are Mandatory Abuse Reporters per the State of Oregon, as such all staff must be aware of and follow Mandatory Abuse Reporting Policies.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or ability to be certified as a Qualified Mental Health Associate (QMHA)
- Excellent oral and written communication skills. Fluent in English
- Strong attention to detail and highly organized
- Ability to learn and adopt the policies and procedures of the organization
- Strong interpersonal skills with good judgment, discretion, and flexibility in work hours
- Have (or ability to obtain) and maintain a valid Oregon or Washington driver’s license and meet the agency insurance standards.
Preferred Skills:
- Knowledge of Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA)
- Prior experience with Carelogic
- Prior experience working in a human services environment
