What are the responsibilities and job description for the Housekeeper position at Clatsop Care Center Health District?
POSITION PURPOSE: The primary purpose of the Housekeeping position is to provide housekeeping and routine custodial tasks as outlined below and as assigned by the facility Administrator.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:
- Supports the holistic health and overall well-being of residents and a positive work environment for employees.
- Demonstrates interest, knowledge, skills, and compassion in caring for residents with dementia.
- Has knowledge and practices infection control.
Cleans hallways and common area floors daily with minimal disruption to residents and visitors. Cleans employee offices and conference room on at least a weekly basis. Empties trash daily. Cleans employee lounge daily. Defrosts and cleans refrigerator at least monthly. Cleans large resident/family lounge daily including dusting surfaces. Inspects and ensures tidiness of outdoor areas daily. Provides daily cleaning of common bathrooms, laundry, and dirty utility room. Cleans household kitchens daily and defrosts and cleans refrigerator at least monthly. Demonstrates knowledge and appropriate use of cleaning supplies and equipment. Ensures safety practices are followed. Ensures adequate supply of cleaning supplies. Launders housekeeping rags and mops. Ensures housekeeping cart and storage areas are stocked and maintained. Informs Administrator of equipment needs and required repairs. Performs small custodial/maintenance tasks, i.e. hanging pictures, repairing toilets and sinks, Fixing small equipment. Participates in Quality Assurance and keeps Administrator apprised of needs. Attend monthly and department in services. Collaborate with other staff to deliver the optimal service. Other duties as assigned.
UNIVERSAL PRECAUTIONS: Exposure to Blood/Body fluids is possible.

- Must possess the ability to learn and follow directions.
- Must function independently and have flexibility
- Ability to prioritize tasks and work efficiently to accomplish assigned tasks
- Interest in and demonstrated ability to work with residents with dementia and challenging behaviors.
- Possess the ability to maintain harmonious work relations with co-workers and supervisors.
