Position Title: Shelter Manager
40 hours/week with Benefits (Salary / Exempt)
Reports to: CCA Executive Director
Purpose
The Shelter Manager will be responsible for managing operations for all Clatsop Community Action (CCA) Shelter Programs.
The Shelter Manager will work with CCA management, staff and community partners to ensure efficient operations of multiple shelter program locations in Clatsop County.
The shelter will provide ADA compliant rooms and trauma-informed, culturally appropriate services for: individuals fleeing domestic violence; 2SLGBTQIA ; families with children; Latin(x); youth; veterans; and other underserved community members.
The Shelter Manager will work with a diverse staff to achieve community-supporting objectives.
Responsibilities
The Shelter Manager will have the following responsibilities:
- Oversee the staffing and management of multiple CCA shelter programs, including scheduling, training, and supervising shelter staff, as well as monitoring operations to ensure compliance with regulations and policies.
- Develop and implement policies and procedures to ensure the safety, well-being, and privacy of shelter participants, including handling incidents and emergencies that may arise.
- Collaborate with community partners and agencies to coordinate services and resources to meet the needs of shelter participants and facilitate linkages to appropriate services and housing opportunities.
- Collect, compile, and analyze data on shelter operations, including participant demographics, service utilization, and outcomes, and use this information to improve program quality and effectiveness.
- Develop and maintain positive relationships with shelter participants and staff, and promote a culture of respect, inclusivity, and teamwork.
- The Shelter Manager will prioritize trauma-informed care by integrating it into all aspects of the shelter's operations, including policies, procedures, and staff training, to create a safe and supportive environment for all shelter participants who have experienced trauma.
- Foster a positive and supportive environment within our shelters and warming centers.
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
The ideal candidate for the Shelter Manager position will possess the following qualifications:
- Two years’ experience in program management, preferably in a shelter or other residential setting.
- Working knowledge of social services and community resources.
- Ability to communicate professionally through email, telephone, and in-person to clients, co-workers, and with community agencies throughout Clatsop County and beyond.
- Proficient use of computer technology, including windows-based programs, database systems, and internet applications. Commitment to data quality improvement as an ongoing activity.
- Demonstrated ability to work autonomously and as part of team through collaboration and engagement.
- Familiarity with the needs of Latin(x), 2SLGBTQIA , and/or domestic violence survivors and their families is a plus.
Working Conditions and Physical Effort
- The employee must be able to work well in an office environment. Due to the nature of the work, the employee may be required to deal with angry, confused, and/or frustrated clients.
- The employee must frequently stand, sit, lift, and/or move up to 10 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 35 pounds.
- Requires considerable walking (including climbing stairs).
