The Claws N Paws family is looking to expand our wonderful team. We are a busy small animal/exotics one doctor practice, with consistent relief doctor(s). We are currently looking for the right candidate to fill our open position for veterinary receptionist. We pride ourselves on treating staff with dignity and respect, promote work/life balance and long term hiring! Candidate must have a flexible schedule and be able to work mornings, evenings and Saturdays.
The right candidate must have a minimum of 3 years exclusive experience in the field of veterinary medicine, a positive and upbeat attitude (positive, thriving hospital cultural is of the utmost importance), be a team player and punctual, have excellent communication skills (including on the phone and in person), be able to multi-task and time management skills. Applicants will have the main responsibility of the reception area and monitors all aspects of client service and satisfaction. Prior Cornerstone software experience is preferred.
Receptionist are expected to perform some tasks included but not limited to:
- Perform clerical work with speed and accuracy
- Be able to work under pressure without losing composure
- Manage a multi-line phone system and clients in the lobby at the same time, with or without assistance
- Ability to move quickly from reception to treatment area when moving appointments into rooms
- Understand common vaccination protocols, basic lab tests, common disease transmission, veterinary terminology, and pet behavioral cues
- Accurately collect and process payments from clients with minimal errors
- Maintain a neat professional appearance
- Refrain from negative talk, gestures, and implied attitudes that reflect poorly on the hospital
- Must be dependable. It is important to have a reliable method of transportation
- Ability to be open-minded and contribute to business improvement (takes pride in where they work)
- Verifies client’s contact info including email address is up to date for every client that comes in
- Monitor and maintain the flow of the hospital, appointments and patients
- Has knowledge of currently available hw and f/t products as well as rules and regulation regarding the sale of those products
- Monitors appointment confirmations and calls clients who have not confirmed through the automated system
- Encourage retail sales
- Provides basic client and patient education over the phone; has ability to answer basic questions or take messages as appropriate and ensures follow-up later
- Obtain clear, accurate messages/questions so as veterinarian can provide appropriate medical recommendations
- Filling medication i.e. OTC medications, F/T and hw prevention, etc.
We offer flexible schedules, monthly insurance stipend, PTO, CNPAH scrubs after probationary period, employee pet wellness plan after 60 days.
Hourly/salary compensation based on experience
Hours range between 20-32 or 32-39 hours per week but subject to change based on performance (potential for FT employment for PT employees based on work ethic and performance)
