What are the responsibilities and job description for the Patient Care Technician position at Clay County Memorial Hospital?
We are looking for an Patient Care Technician at Clay County Memorial Hospital who under the supervision of nursing staff members, and extended care services staff assists in providing patient care, prepares records and maintains a clean environment. The Patient Care Technician duties include extended periods of standing and walking, bending, stooping, twisting, reaching and lifting up to 50 pounds. Occasional heavy lifting may be required when moving or supporting patients who suddenly fall weak or helpless. The job of an Patient Care Technician is important to CCMH's success as our priority is to provide an exceptionally high level of patient care for our patients.
Responsibilities
- Perform patient care as directed by nursing staff or medical staff, documenting on medical record
- Achieve and maintain patient care competencies as determined by Policy and Procedure
- Stock daily to ensure adequate supply of equipment needed for patient care
- Assist in transportation of patients and equipment interdepartmentally
- Ensure patient care areas, storage rooms and equipment are cleaned and maintained
- Perform procedures and skills (i.e. V/S, EKG) per hospital policy
- Assist nurses in peri-care
- Report patient safety errors in a timely fashion
- Communication openly and promote teamwork and efficiency
- Assist with clerical functions such as telephones, order entries and back-up clerical associates for breaks and meals
- Assist on Med/Surg floor or other departments as needed (i.e. Lift assist, V/S, etc.)

- Ability to use good judgment and remain calm in high-stress situations
