JOB SUMMARY
Responsible for performing daily housekeeping and sanitation activities. Incumbent must supervise trustees and inmates on work details and conduct outdoor sanitation and litter collection activities. Duties also include reporting found or potential safety, maintenance, or non-compliance issues. This position reports to the Facilities Maintenance Supervisor.Pay Grade: P21
Salary Range: $ 31,203.63 to $36,168.85
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Ensures that their work area is clean, organized, safe and presentable in accordance with agency policies and procedures.
- Performs effective housekeeping and sanitation activities to ensure that the facility areas are clean, organized, and presentable.
- Supervises and directs the trustees in the proper performance of their daily tasks while maintaining the security, safety, and control of the inmate/offender pursuant to applicable FMJS regulations and in accordance with agency policies.
- Supervises contractors while they are working in the building.
- Maintains an accurate count of all inmates/offenders assigned to the work detail at all times and will complete and disseminate the required documentation concerning inmate/offender assignments in a timely manner in accordance with agency policies/procedures.
- Determines type and quantity of supplies/equipment required, and accurately completes and submits the requisition request to the appropriate personnel for authorization and processing.
- Ensures that restrooms are clean, sanitized, and in good working order.
- Vacuums carpet inbuilding.
- Ensures that municipal grounds are free of litter and debris.
- Empties all trash bins, compiling the trash in a central location and readying the trash for pickup.
- Wet mops all non-carpeted areas of the facility, removing excess water/fluids and ensuring that caution signs are properly posted to warn personnel of the slippery conditions.
- Supervises the washing of windows, ensuring that the windows are free of dirt, film, and other material buildup, and present a clear view to the exterior of the facility.
- Ensures that all non-carpeted areas of the facility are properly waxed as required or as per schedule pursuant to agency policy.
- Ensures that all areas of the facility are properly buffed approximately 3 to 4 days after the waxing operation has been completed consistent with agency policies.
- Stores flammable materials in an approved container within an approved area in a safe and secure manner consistent with agency policies and applicable state/federal rules/regulations.
- Works effectively with colleagues and other agency personnel in order to maximize work area output and services consistent with agency policies.
- Responds appropriately to personnel grievances/ complaints in accordance with agency policies/procedures/applicable laws in a timely manner.
- Inspects and replaces worn and damaged ceiling tiles.
- Replaces light bulbs when needed.
- Processes applicable incoming and outgoing documents and/or files in a timely manner consistent with supervisory direction and/or agency policies/procedures.
- Participates in cross-training with other co-workers; assists those co-workers when the need arises and learns new tasks by working together as a team.
- Reports identified or potential maintenance, safety, and/or non-compliance findings, hazards, and incidents to the appropriate personnel and/or department.
- Timely completes all assignments, special projects, and budgetary requirements (if applicable) as directed, adhering to applicable agency policies.
- Adheres to leave and attendance policies, including punctual arrival and completing full shifts. Informs the supervisor about illness or untimely incidents, reports overtime hours worked, and timely submits timesheet, attendance, and leave requests.
- Regularly checks assigned mailbox, phone calls, PowerDMS, and email messages, responding promptly and professionally.
- Makes assigned chain of command aware of anything noteworthy.
- Responds to supervision, guidance, direction, and feedback from executive staff and superiors in a receptive manner and in accordance with agency policies.
- Conducts themselves in a polite, helpful, courteous, ethical, and professional manner, abiding by the established code of ethics, and demonstrates a courteous and professional image when engaged in any activity with the public.
- Cultivates positive working relationships with colleagues and other agency units to enhance work area output and services in line with agency policies.
- Demonstrates an understanding, consideration, and respect of cultural, religious, and gender differences when interacting with the public and coworkers.
- Actively participate in job-specific training.
- Operates and performs minor repairs for office equipment to manufacturer’s specifications and/or within the specified parameters pursuant to agency policies.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum Education, Experience and Requirements:
- High school diploma or its equivalent required.
- Proficient in Microsoft office products.
- Speak and understand the English language.

Salary is negotiable for full-time positions prior to initial hire, if requested, based on verified experience up to step five (5) of the assigned pay grade. Current employee salary changes are determined based on internal methodology. Please contact Human Resources with any questions.
