What are the responsibilities and job description for the Mechanic position at Clay County?
Clay County Missouri has a full-time opportunity for a trained mechanic with heavy and light equipment experience as well as with trucks and other vehicles. The person filling our Road & Bridge Mechanic opening will work independently with general oversight while organizing and fulfilling work assignments. Work assignments will include items such as routine inspections; preventive maintenance; and troubleshooting, diagnosing, and repairing equipment malfunctions.
While regular hours are Monday through Thursday from 6:30 am to 5:00 pm, this individual is also on-call for after-hours emergencies or weather events.
The ideal candidate will hold a high school diploma or equivalent, experience and working knowledge of repair and maintenance of heavy and light equipment, trucks and other vehicles, and a valid Missouri Class A CDL driver license with tanker and hazmat endorsements or ability to obtain.
The hiring range, dependent on qualifications, is $22.23 - $26.03 hourly with an employee benefits package that includes a defined benefit retirement plan fully funded by the County and a deferred-compensation plan with a match on the first 4% contributed. We also offer three medical plans including two high deductible plans, dental, vision, two flexible spending accounts, and supplemental plans. Full-time employees are also offered life insurance (2X annual salary) paid by the County, paid vacation/sick leave, 14 paid holidays, LTD and tuition reimbursement.
